  • 2013 Porsche 911 Cabrio reconfirmed for Detroit unveiling [video]

Detroit debut of the 911 Carrera Cabriolet at the 2012 North American International Auto Show next week by releasing this new promo video and a few new photos.

First announced in late November, the 2013 model will be available as the Carrera Cabriolet and the Carrera S Cabriolet starting at 100,532 and 114,931 in Germany and MSRP $93,700 and $108,000 in the U.S., respectively.

The soft-top version has the same engines as the Coupe variant. The Carrera Cabriolet's 3.4-liter engine packs 350 PS (257 kW / 345 bhp) while the Carrera S cabriolet gets a little extra from the 3.8-liter engine with 400 PS (294 kW / 394 bhp).

Recognizing the importance of the North American market, Porsche chose to debut the 991 Cabrio at the NAIAS due to the popularity of the model. According to Bernhard Maier, Porsche AG Board of Management Member for Sales and Marketing, "Detroit was deliberately chosen for the world premiere of the new 911 Cabrio because the USA is far and away our largest 911 Cabrio market."

The Porsche 911 Cabriolet launches in Germany this March while th U.S. bound units arrive a few weeks later in the spring.
