The upcoming mid-life refresh for the*Bentley Bentayga*has been photographed undergoing hot weather in the mountains of southern Europe.

At the front the Bentayga has a bumper with reshaped fog light pods and lower air intake. The crossover will retain its four headlight setup, but the main units seem to be more ovoid than the current set.

The vent behind the front wheel arch seems to set higher in the front quarter panel than before.

Out the back this prototype sports more than its fair share of false body panels.

Although the company has painted an oversized set of rectangular tail-lights on this car, we can actually see an array of red LEDs laid out in a squished ellipse, similar to the design used on the latest Continental two-door range.

The false body panels also suggest the updated Bentayga will feature a new clamshell tailgate, although we're not sure if this is a ruse. Regardless, the new tail-light shape will necessitate a fair number of changes to both the the tailgate and rear quarter panels.

According to our spy photography agency the prototype had a thoroughly covered up dashboard, meaning there should be significant changes here too – we reckon the digitised setup from the new Continental and Flying Spur will be carried over, incorporating a digital instrument binnacle and widescreen infotainment display.

We're not sure what Bentley has in store for the Bentayga's drivetrains, but there could be revisions for the 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 and 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, along with the 4.0-litre turbo-diesel V8 and twin-turbo V6 plug-in hybrid.
